PANTELLERIA, an exhibition held at the Barbacane Castle of Pantelleria in August 2008. This collection consists of 12 glimpses of Pantelleria, in which the most suggestive places of the island are represented, both the coastal parts and the countryside with its characteristic” dammusi “and secret gardens.

An island with landscapes made of stones on stones, which testify to the millennial work of its inhabitants. Steep downhill stretches, the intense colours of the sea, but also the gentle slopes and terraces reminiscent of the landscape of Mount Etna, of which there is now a faded trace.

The works made on paper and canvas board are mainly carried out in pastel and tempera. This choice was born from the need to tell the uniqueness of these places with the shaded stroke of the pencil as if to mitigate its harshness and thus evoke its hidden soul. And just like the drawings of a traveller from another time who sketches the views of the island on a travel notebook, these drawings take us around Pantelleria as a small guide to its magic.
